The flagship model of the Mercedes
range, the CL600 Coupe was in production from 1992 – 2014. The second generation
C215 ran from 1999 – 2006 and had a unique body construction with a steel
floorpan, bonded aluminium roof and rear wing sections, magnesium door frames
and composite front wings and boot. Seven engine options were offered, ranging
from a normally aspirated 5.0 V8 to a 6.3 AMG V12
twin-turbo.
All were beautifully equipped as
standard, including hydropneumatic suspension with Active Body Control and ride
height adjustment, self-closing doors and boot, bi-xenon headlamps plus a huge
range of options available on top.
First
registered in April 2003, this CL600 is a rare V12 twin-turbo model, one of only
2,255 made, with 500bhp and 590lb/ft. It has had just two owners from new, the
first for 19 years, and has only covered 14,245 miles to date. It is packed full
of options which you can decode from the numbers shown in the last photo. These
include double-glazing and massage-function front seats.
On offer here from a deceased estate, it comes with no paperwork
other than the Mercedes bookpack that we found in the glovebox. The service book
has two stamps, the first at 8,450 miles in April 2005 and the second at 13,477
miles in May 2008. The new owner will need to apply for a V5C using the
requisite DVLA form and payment of a £25 fee. An online check shows that it has
a current MOT valid until September 2023 with just a couple of advisories for
tyres and brake discs.
As you can see in the
photos, the car looks magnificent and is virtually unmarked. It has been
starting instantly and running beautifully as we have moved it around on site,
however we did note a fuel leak from under the n/s rear of the car when the
engine was running which will need investigating before the car can be driven
away. (We will attempt to get this fixed before the auction finishes - call the
number below for an update).
