Description
Smart and very usable diesel 109" 12 seat Stationwagon variant that
went to Austrailia with its first owner and came back with them; just four
owners since
Supplied new by Leyland Cars,
Solihull for export in November 1976 this lovely old Series III 109” 12-seater
Stationwagon variant looks to have gone out to Australia when new with its first
owner who then returned to the UK with it at some point, but certainly by 1993
from what we can see in the history file.
Finished in Limestone with black trim, this RHD truck featured the
2.25 litre four-cylinder 62bhp naturally aspirated diesel engine with four-speed
manual transmission, four-wheel drive, two-speed manual transfer ‘box without
O/D.
The original spec sheet on file shows the
car was optioned with an electric windscreen washer, oil pressure gauge, KPH
speedo with trip, rear indicator lamps, safety harness anchorage, extra fuel
filter and separate rear number plate light.
Presenting very well bar the odd minor mark the truck looks very
much the part, and wonderfully unadulterated.
The
history file includes the V5C suggesting the truck has remained on its original
UK registration since new, and was with its original owner from 1976 to 2017
when we believe it came back to the UK. Since then it looks to have had had just
four keepers. We also find the
delivery receipt, order form showing the destination to be Australia, selection
of bills from the UK including a £234 spend in March 2019 on replacement rear
window rubbers and sliders, £1229 spend in March 2018 on various works including
a new fuel tank.
Other docs on file include a
UK insurance policy doc in the name of the first owner dated 1993 suggesting the
vehicle had returned to the UK by this time, 10 old MOTs dating back to 2008 at
67,412 miles (likely KM) and couple of MOT check lists dated 2004 and
2009.
The truck has been with our current owner
since March 2018 and started promptly with some
preheat and ran well at the time of photography, a charming place to be with its
cavernous interior and useful safari top.
