Super rare, super desirable RHD 5th Gen C211 Skyline with 2.0 6-pot

Probably the coolest car in the sale (along with the iconic P1…oh, and maybe the Sapporo…)…Anyway, definitely one of the coolest cars in the sale and barring maybe the earlier 3rd Gen Hakosoka Skyline, the next best thing.
Dating from June 1980, this Nissan Skyline is a 5th Generation C211 variant 2000GT Turbo EX and is finished in Nissan Alpine White and sits on a set of deep-dish Wantanabe OG alloy wheels finished in matt Bronze with polished lip and black wheel arch extensions which were a factory option.
The super keen amongst you may notice this C211 has some C210 bits including the front and rear lights which the aficionados really get all steamy over.
Under the bonnet of this Skyline 2000GT EX lies the 2.0 L20 ET turbocharged six-cylinder engine which developed 143bhp and 206NM of torque when new, driving the rear wheels via five-speed manual transmission. This variant was the most powerful of its generation and replaced the previous 4th Gen 2000GT-R version, and was the first turbo engine to power a Japanese production car.
The car comes to us from an enthusiast owner who restored it himself through his own body-shop at a cost of c.£5,000 we are told, which was a glass out re-spray (some images of this in progress are on file) along with a wheel refurb.
During his tenure he also changed the belts and rebuilt some of the pulleys as well as crackle finishing the rocker cover, changing the filters, plugs and fluids too although the car hasn’t seen much recent use so would likely benefit from some tinkering and fettling.
The car has been kept as stock as possible, even down to keeping the original interior intact despite there being some signs of age/wear to the rear seat tops and seat squabs as pictured, but originality is key and the interior is a wonderful place to be with the comfortable charcoal cloth seats, multitude of gauges, switches, air con, heated rear window, electric windows, period Hitachi radio/cassette player and of course, the sound balance joystick which is super fun.
The car starts and runs, sounding super with its subtle straight-six rumble and gurgle but we did note a squeal of belts with the battery light flickering which suggests the belts will likely need some adjustment.
The car is lovely and looks squat, sleek, retro and menacing all at the same time - its not perfect and the new owner will no doubt find bits to tinker with and improve as with any 43-year-old car.
The history file includes the V5C revealing just one former UK owner to our vendor since import and registration in the UK in 2013, the original Japanese owner’s manual and workshop manual for 1979, a Suffolk Alarm system certificate of installation, print-out from the Japanese sale showing the KM count to be just 59,450 (it currently shows 61,557), HM Revenue & Customs confirmation of Duty paid dated March 2013, Export Certificate showing it came from Kagoshima in Japan, two old MOTs from 2013 and 2014 at 59,527 and 60,695KM and what looks to be a Japanese invoice of sorts dated 2010.
The Skyline is of course MOT and tax exempt, the last time it was presented for MOT was in 2014 when it passed without advisory.
A fantastic opportunity to acquire what is now a super rare, super desirable 5th Gen C211 Skyline 2000GT Turbo in a market where Skylines have gone nuts in value and collectability.
