Description
The Peugeot Type 190 was launched in 1928 with a four-cylinder 695cc
engine which developed 14hp with a maximum speed of 37mph. They were in
production until 1931 and 33,000 were produced. Designed with the French farmer
in mind, they were indestructable and built to run full tilt all the time -
which is just as well.
This 1928 Peugeot 190S Camionette spent most of
its working life in the vineyards of France before ending in an Irish motor
museum in the 1980’s. When the museum closed the car was bought by an Australian
living in Belfast who registered in Ireland as IJ 7237.
When he returned
to Australia, the vehicle was sold to Andy Johnson who in turn passed it on to
Tim Cork. Tim Cork had the engine and the back axle reconditioned before selling
the car to fellow VSCC member John Davies, he rebuilt the front suspension and
the steering system before selling the car to a market garden venture in Ireland
where it was displayed in the foyer with the tailgate full of
flowers.
Eligible for “The Light car and Edwardian Section” of the VSCC,
it is well known in the pre-war section of clubPeugeotuk and if you get your
skates on, you could even enter the Light Car Race at Donnington Park this
year.
It has been running and driving since arrival on site and comes
with various spares including a complete engine and one short block and other
engine spares.
A charming and practical vehicle that is sure to prove a
real talking point at any vintage event.
