Panoramic roof
Dating from July 2002 this
earlier R230 generation of Mercedes SL comes to us in monstrous SL55 AMG form,
finished in Tanzanite Blue metallic and sitting upon its original 18” jet-fin
alloy wheels we note fitment of the expensive optional and highly desirable
glass Panoramic roof, the car looking very enticing indeed.
Under the sculpted hood we find the mighty 5.4-litre M113
supercharged AMG V8 engine which develops 493bhp and a whopping 700NM of torque
driving the rear wheels via five-speed 5G-tronic automatic/tiptronic
transmission. Performance, as you
might imagine is vivid, with the dash to sixty mph arriving in just 4.5 seconds
and could, so say MB engineers, hit 208mph de-restricted although most UK cars
are restricted to 155mph.
Inside the
comfortable cabin, we find a light grey leather interior with perforated
electrically adjustable, heated memory seats with adj. lumbar and massage
(Pulse) facility. Furthermore, this
example boasts automatic Xenon headlights with headlight wash, dark wood trim,
COMAND navigation and in-car entertainment, electric windows, electric mirrors,
cruise control, adjustable air suspension with ABC, stability control, parking
sensors, power folding mirrors, dual zone climate control with AC, trip
computer, multi-function steering wheel and of course the clever electric
folding roof with sun blind for the glass Panoramic section.
This lovely example shows just 34,366 miles which have, we
understand been covered by members of the same family who have owned the car
since new, with just c.10,000 of those being covered since 2011, as a result the
car presents beautifully with wonderfully waxed and protected paint/bodywork and
very smart interior.
The history file includes
the V5C revealing six former keepers (all believed to be in the same family),
the owner’s pack with handbooks and service book showing eight stamps with two
by Mercedes benz, the rest by an independant. The most recent service is
mentioned on a printed info sheet on the car in the file and stamped, carried
out in August 2021 at 34,022 miles.
The current MOT is valid until
September 2023 and records no advisories and as such, this powerful roadster
