Description
Very desirable machine; originally believed to have been supplied to
French customer in '78 with standard 900SS specifications; extensively restored;
only showing 2 miles on the new speedo having been stored in our vendor's office
and kicked over on a regular basis; accompanied with Ducati
certificate of authenticity; a gorgeous looking bike all
round!
In 2011, our vendor purchased from ‘Made
in Italy Motorcycles’ in Stowmarket, the principal original parts to produce
what you see today, including the certified 088175 frame, the wheels, engine,
gearbox and fuel tank.
Between 2011 and 2013,
all other OEM parts were purchased (invoices on file totalling almost £10,000)
in readiness for a complete restoration. The major components were stripped down
and surface prepared and/or painted where required. All seals and bearings
replaced with a pair of 900 road/race pistons fitted too.
Work was completed in 2014 and it was successfully UK registered
after receiving the all clear from the Ducati Owners Club in the UK along with
official confirmation of originality from Ducati in Bologna.
Since then, it has been proudly displayed in our vendor's office,
covering a total of only 2 miles. The engine and gearbox have regularly been
turned but bidders are advised that if going on the road, it might need some
light commissioning beforehand.
