2003 Morgan Plus 8

High spec one owner car; just 4,700 miles from new; super opportunity

The Plus 8 needs little introduction, this 2003 model featuring the torquey 3.9-litre Rover V8 in a galvanised chassis, aluminium bodywork including SuperForm wings, longer doors and stainless bulkhead and inner wings.

Purchased for the vendor's wife as a Christmas gift (are you listening gents?), it was delivered in April 2003 and registered with her private number which is NOT included in the sale. It now carries the number CF03 RKK.

Painted Mercedes-Benz midnight blue, it was trimmed in Muirhead Russian blue leather piped in burgundy, with burgundy crashpad and door pocket linings. The blue carpets were piped to match and sports seats ordered.

Stainless wire wheels were also selected from the options list, including door handles (!), two extra tread rubbers per side, a walnut dash, organ accelerator pedal and a map reading light. The invoice rolled on to two pages, with a clock, Bluespot radio and speakers, mohair weather equipment and rustproof treatment. He also selected a leather-bound photographic build record.

He also added over £500 of after market goodies, again fitted by the factory which included knock off hubs, a wood rim MotoLita steering wheel and a walnut gearknob. In fact, this was just about everything on the options list and some more.....

The bill came to just shy of £43,000.

He had the car maintained and serviced every year, but due to work pressures, neither he nor his wife ever got to use the car very much, hence it has still only covered 4,800 miles from new - barely run in...

Unfortunately, he decided to put the service records and invoices in his safe at work for security, a bad plan as it happened as thieves took off with the entire safe and the history was lost.

We do however have the original factory correspondence, original invoices, factory build record and the current advisory-free MOT certificate which expires in April 2023.

The car presents as one would expect of a 19 year old 4,800 mile example. There are several small indentations on the o/s rear wing top which could be easily dealt with and the underbonnet area shows discolouration to the aluminium parts of the engine as photographed.

The factory stopped making the Plus 8 a while back and ceased production of the ladder framed cars entirely last year, so this is the perfect opportunity to acquire a 'nearly new' example for less than 1/2 the price of the latest factory equivalent.
