1997 Land Rover Defender Wolf TUL HS Soft Top, Air Dropable

One of only 28 Air Dropable examples; used by 2 Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan; beautifully refurbished recently; only 35,200 miles showing; no VAT on the hammer price; UK registered with appropriate Wolf number

This is a very rare air dropable Defender. In fact, it is 26 of only 28 built for the Airborne forces.  It is unknown how many survivors there are.

The unique features of the air droppable are the ability to strip the car to bare bones, including the top half of the rear body tub.  There is extra strengthening to the rear body tub and chassis area.

Registered in the military as KC35AA, she served her entire career with no2 Parachute Regiment and served in Afghanistan and possibly Iraq. Records show her photographed in Kabul where one can clearly distinguish the plate.

She was subject to the project REMUS upgrade by the military that included a full roll cage and acoustic matting being fitted, plus full Dinitrol rust proofing of the chassis and bulkhead inside and out and the snorkel conversion fitted.

Just before leaving the military, she was fitted with a replacement 300 TDI reconditioned engine that included a new AMC Turner Engineering cylinder head, which was sure to have included a new clutch and timing belt, etc.  It is estimated that the truck has only done approx. 1000 miles since fitting.

After being released from the military in 2021, it was purchased by our vendor and was subjected to an extensive refurbishment.

The refurbishment included a brand new correct OEM hood, the roll cage was dismantled, repainted and re-assembled with stainless steel nuts and bolts, followed by the interior being completely re-upholstered.  The chassis was re-treated with Dinitrol inside and out (as per the military), a new galvanised rear cross-member cover with stainless steel nuts and bolts was fitted, along with a civil drop bar and tow hook combination that retains the NATO tow hook too. At the same time she was converted to 12v using new quality components including the starter, alternator, wiper motor and battery, so now has the ease of future maintenance and parts availability.

Very little, if any corrosion is visible on the chassis and the car has covered just 56,700 kms (35,000 miles) and is believed to be correct.  She seems to drive well and is quiet with no clunks or whines, as you would expect with such a low mileage truck.

The military paintwork has a lovely patina, retaining her 2 Para drop flashes on the doors and the regiment stickers on the windscreen.  She was civil registered in October 2021 and a period R registration plate assigned. The appropriately shown number was then purchased, P11 WLF (Para 2 Wolf) A new MOT was also completed recently with no advisories.

This is a unique opportunity to acquire a low mileage Wolf that has such a rare, historically interesting spec. The car also becomes USA exportable later this year.
