1967 Daimler 250 V8

Engine runs; stainless steel exhaust; last on the road in 2010; for spares or repairs

First registered in December 1967, this Daimler 250 V8 has had four owners from new, according to the V5C, a note on file stating that the first owner lived in Broughton Hall in Yorkshire, a vast country pile that has been the home of the Tempest family since 1097. From 1979 – 1982 it was in Aberystwyth and for the next 39 years thereafter it was owned by a gentleman in Worcester. Ten old MOTs show that it clocked up only 260 miles between 2000 and 2010 when the owner gave up driving and put the car into storage.

Our vendor spotted it languishing in its shed in March last year (as shown in the last photo) and bought it with the intention of getting it restored. He sent it to a local garage who soon coaxed it into life with some fresh fuel and a slave battery but, much to his wife’s relief, he then came to his senses and decided that he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew…

As you can see in the photos, the car does indeed look rather sorry for itself but on the plus side, it is complete, the engine was running recently, it rolls fairly easily and it does have a stainless steel exhaust system. It also comes with a workshop manual and a parts catalogue which could prove handy if the new owner decides to restore it, along with a spare boot lid that is in much better condition than the one currently on the car. The rear seats are Ambla but the fronts are leather and all are in reasonable condition.

We all hate to see an old car broken for parts and although this one is not for the faint hearted, it is certainly not beyond saving. Go on, you know you like a challenge – just don’t let your partner see it first…
