Description
1961 Ford Prefect 107E
Purchased recently
but must be offered for sale again; very presentable little car with
few previous keepers; showing 74,500 miles which is believed to be
correct
By
the late 1950s Ford were looking to the future with the ground-breaking Anglia
on the drawing board, yet needed a stop-gap model to keep sales buoyant. The
result was the 107E of 1959, a successful combination of old and new
styles.
This late 1961 example would no doubt have been a well suited
family saloon back in the day. How things have changed when one sees what
families need these days!
Our vendor has known this car since the early
1990s and has in fact owned it twice. Having been dry stored for a considerable
time, it is in impressive order and not full of rot as these early Fords
were prone to do.
The photographs showing you the boot demonstrate how
tidy it really is. We understand it is running and driving but might need some
light tinkering before any substantial journey. The smart paintwork is
surprisingly good and our vendor is genuinely sad to let her go.
The
registration number is transferable, which is nice if you are that way
inclined, or simply buy and use the car as intended, these 107Es go so much
better than their appearance suggests thanks to their peppy 997cc ohv engines
- making a practical alternative to its main competitor at the time, the
Morris 1000..
