Description
1997 Land Rover Defender 90
One of the last
300 TDis; galvanised chassis; WARN winch; recent clutch; a very useful bit of
kit with lots of goodies.
For simplicity and rugged reliablity, a
300TDi Defender takes a lot of beating. One of the last 300s made before the
introduction of the TD5, this example has certainly led a busy
life.
Probably not one for the purist, there is much to like about
this war-horse, principally it has at some time been completely rebuilt on a
galvanised chassis. This is a very good thing.
Whoever did the work knew
what was what, as they added a Discovery transfer box which ups the gearing to
allow a comfortable 70mph cruise.
It comes with industrial-size BF
Goodrich mud terrain tyres and Terra Firma suspension. A warn winch is
fitted up front onto a tubular winch bumper and the bodywork has been built up
with an Exmoor trim interior, full LED lighting and exterior work
lights.
The engine has an Allard Intercooler and has recently had a
cambelt change and service as well as a new clutch fitted within the
last month. It also has an immobiliser and has been in everyday use for the last
few years and was driven some 60 miles to the sale.
A visual inspection
shows that the aluminium bodywork is not in the first flush of youth, but bear
in mind that it all sits on a galvanised chassis so you can't go far
wrong.
MOTd until November 2022, it may have covered a mere 198,000 but
the chassis certainly hasn't and there is plenty of life/fun to be had for a
long time to come.
