1963 Ford Cortina MkI Deluxe 

Beautifully restored two-door model with 1,200cc power from a private collection; a lovely base for a potent twin-cam?

Dating from June 1963 this splendid MkI Cortina 2 door features the 1200cc Kent four-cylinder petrol engine, pre-cross flow. It was bought by our private collector vendor in 2007 and imported to his home in Southern Ireland in 2010 where abouts he set about a full restoration between 2012-2019.

The restoration involved a complete strip down and re-paint in emmer white with Sherwood Green in 2pac. The restoration included new inner wings, under wing kits, inner and outer sills, top mounts, brake pipes/hoses, KYB rear shocks and some repairs to the boot floor. The car was re-fitted with a set of desirable Minilite wheels, a Lotus style interior with original dash, new fuel tank, new exhaust, new dynamo and re-wire.

The emphasis was on keeping things original to an extent but making it ready for a Lotus twin cam engine transplant should the right engine and box come along. Since completion the car has seen little use and remained in a heated hall where some of the vendor’s collection is housed.

The history file includes the Irish log book, application for Irish registration in 2010, Irish Sorn docs, copy UK V5C (confirming it’s a UK car, sold new here on the 19^th of June 1963), blue old style V5C, manuals, brochures, old tax disc, 7 old MOTs dating back to January 1999 at 74,175 miles (currently reading XX), exploded parts diagrams and a selection of invoices including £350 spent on chrome work, repair panels, paint, parts, prep materials, battery, fuel tank, dash re-trim, head gasket set, other engine parts, interior trim and the list goes on totalling thousands and thousands.

Starting promptly, this super and iconic little sounds as well as it looks and would clearly make an ideal basis for Lotus conversion. We all like it, a lot.
