1991 Honda Beat (PP1-100)
Funky JDM Kei-Car with revvy, revvy rear-engine 650cc motor, quirky interior and diminutive size from 5 year ownership
Dating from 1991 and imported to the UK in June 1999 this diminutive JDM spec Kei-car was among the last cars to be sanctioned by Soichiro Honda before he died in ’91. Powered by a rear mounted 656cc 3-cylinder engine it does not use a turbocharger like the Cappuccino also in the sale, a similar sort of Kei car, instead it used individual throttle bodies on each of the 3-cylinders and MTREC (multi throttle engine responsive control) system which meant it generated 63bhp driving the rear wheels via manual transmission.
This first generation PP1-100 Beat was a rare car when new, only c.33,600 were built ( PP1-100 and PP1-110 versions) and they are a rare sight here with a devoted fan club so we expect this little yellow example to be popular. Off the road as a result of a deceased estate since 2016 when it was MOT’d with 108,561Km recorded, it has just been MOT’d again in July this year showing 108,836Km with no advisories recorded showing how little the use the car has had in the last 5 years.
Starting and running well considering its time off the road, the car would no doubt benefit from a thorough service and check over before doing any serious mileage. The car’s interior, jazzy with its Zebra print seats, funky dash and skinny dimensions looks like an absolute hoot.
The history file includes only the V5C showing just 2 former keepers (since import in ’99) to the current of 5 years.
